Tremayne Ward-Smith

Tremayne is an artist based in Cape Town; quietly developing his work in his home studio and on location. His works seem instinctive; intuitively expressed and often boldly abstracted. It is a deeply personal language which is often removed from a sense of immediate social identity. He introspectively explores feelings of being lost in the social context of South Africa; creating work that tries to harness a plethora of emotions around personal memory; presence; the vagueness of everyday dialogue and anticipation of change; albeit abstracted.
