Thanduxolo Phakathi

Thanduxolo Phakathi is a self-taught artist who began making art as an escape from the strictures of her degree in Food Science and Technology. “In between lunch breaks or when I was at home after work; I took a piece of paper; a ruler and pen; and I started drawing shapes;” she says; “I have a respect for lines; the fact that a single line can carry so much meaning. The repetition in the style that I use gives my artworks movement; depth and colour.”
