Collection: Scott McCracken
(b 1987, United Kingdom. Lives and works in London)
Scott McCracken's recent paintings form an intricate system of shapes and symbols within his work; each painting talking to the next. We are already looking at a kind of gathering; these are paintings that ”˜bring things together'. Each painting feels like an event - a form of surprise. Boxes; tables; boardgames: diagrams and objects interchange. The domesticity of still life is the ruling genre that these suddenly unfamiliar paintings re-create - they grow from a sense of home but; at some point; are spurred to accelerate away to new dimensions.
