Robert Fitzmaurice

Inspired by inherited memories; Fitzmaurice deconstructs and re-imagines the narratives of others. He is drawn to depicting figures that are somehow at odds with their environment or each other; caught in a dramatic entanglement. In his youth he absorbed religious and mythological stories; resulting in his keen interest in blending stories of Gods and demons. In his recent work; figures seem to emerge or retreat from their surroundings with their entrances and exits; achieved through the intersection of strange morphologies that shift with every reading.
