Philip Mentzingen

(b 1976, Austria. Lives and works in Vienna)

Most of Mentzingen's time is spent drawing and painting on loose pieces of paper and canvas; all his paintings begin life on the floor of his studio. Ultimately; his intention is to provide a counter-balance through his work to modern life's sense of overstimulation and monotony; while keeping a proportionate sense of humour. He says; “As long as I can remember I have treated my studio as a place where I should strive to be good at three things: creator; operator and snake-oil salesman.”
