(b 1990, United Kingdom. Lives and works in Twickenham )
Her work is heavily inspired by the natural world, with travel and time spent wandering different landscapes informing her ideas and enabling an organic development within her art practice.
"I begin by immersing myself in my surroundings, drawing in the open air and taking photos of scenes that catch my gaze. From these I deduce shapes, textures and planes of colour; my sketches become abstracted and form compositions of their own. I make references to the world around me and draw upon the interactions between built and natural environments. The work, therefore, alludes to real-world spaces that are almost recognisable as landscapes or domestic spaces, but abstracted just beyond recognition through the brushwork and exploration of paint application."
These drawings act as studies for larger oil paintings, the small-scale pieces being mapped out and rescaled onto larger canvases. I work back and forth between the paintings and drawings, with new layers being added to the work as I respond to new sights.
