Collection: Molly Kent
(b 1995, United Kingdom. Lives and works in Edinburgh)
Kent uses drawing; textiles and installation to act as metaphors that reflect her doubts about our digital era. Her tufted rug works juxtapose colour; text and form and overwhelm the senses in a hands-on physical embodiment of ”˜going viral'. She sees parallels between contemporary existence and the dominance of social media and the Internet; and the way her domestic rugs grow; morph and occupy more and more space. Kent's drawings enable her to consolidate and work through multiple visual possibilities and formats that act as gestural maps for her large-scale textile works.
