Collection: Kevin Monot
(b 1987, France. Lives and works in Rennes)
Monot's work is characterized by a quasi-systematic use of black and white; sometimes embellished with colours like lemon yellow. It's a way of working that employs an economy of means that belies the richness of the visual vocabulary deployed. His work evolves from many intimate studies in notebooks; from sets of paintings on paper to collages; monotypes; paintings on canvas; texts and drawings that use a plastic language in which words; signs; symbols and gestures mingle between abstraction and figuration.
