Karolina Albricht's paintings come from a private imaginative space. Her work is rooted in figuration but make use of abstract language in which a generative force of space; time; movement and feeling meet on their own terms. She often works on the floor of her studio; which enables her to approach the collaging and painting process from different angles. As such; her work becomes a part of the studio; absorbing debris from older works; rags and scraps of canvas. She constantly reviews her materials; reaching for alternative elements that can expand her paintings. This way of working is an amplification of her collages on paper. Her sketches regularly become works in their own right.
