Jon;s paintings are concerned with history; relevance and subversion. I think I'm a painter that paints languorous paintings. Painting itself can be an unsure and uneasy experience; until like a partially blocked sink something squeezes through. I try to keep my language repetitive; rough; and imperfect. I'm interested in the physical world (even when imagined) and it's natural visual poetry.. I try not to work from a position of calculation and intent; I try not to dictate ”˜meaning'; I believe in painting as thought.
