Collection: Jeanne Gaigher
(b 1990, South Africa. Lives and works in Cape Town)
Gaigher's recent work represents a composite of the human body and its potential terrain or surroundings; providing an amalgam of tensions between the two. Images that are hard to pin down - unreliable forms of architecture and mercurial protagonists fade in and out of the surface of Gaigher's shredded and stitched canvas. Her compositions seem to form a kind of dream-logic; where painterly gestures dissolve into air and resolution is substituted with morphing fluidity.
