Bullen's process-oriented practice is characterised by ritual and obsessive replication; layering and removal. His process of reworking and over-working of both forms and ideas means that transient elements are sometimes only left as traces or obscured and essentially disposed of at a later stage. Of his recent work; he says: “I've been chewing and spitting out concepts; materials; fictions and realities to produce a sort of visual pseudo-physical pulp; primed for repurpose or consumption.”
