Collection: Ioannis Lassithiotakis
(b 1956, Greece. Lives and works in Athens)
Lassithiotakis' highly abstract compositions rely on indirect; elliptical and unconventional symbols; which require viewers' attempted interpretation in order to be ”˜completed' from the artist's point-of-view. Contrary to the general perception of abstraction as a mode of expresion that sits at a permanent distance from classical representation; his intention is for the works to operate like a portrait; still life or vanitas.
