A playful approach characterizes the recent drawings of Dominic Kennedy; allowing the work to arrive somewhere unexpected. As the work unfolds; a sense of time is made apparent with the initial searching stages of the drawing revealed. Each work is made on a specific sheet of coloured paper or card which is an integral part of the image. Often many areas are left untouched; giving the work an unfinished quality and preserving the spontaneity of the image. Kennedy seeks out patterns and fragments of form and; whilst initially appearing abstract; they often hint at heads; suns; plants and other recognizable forms that emerge out of the web of marks.
