Collection: Bruce Ingram

(b 1981, United Kingdom. Lives and works in Hastings )

Ingram leaves his creative process open to improvisation and spontaneity. His studio environment is a fertile ground where off-cuts of materials and studio sweepings are often physically included in the construction of his artworks. The studio debris; therefore; becomes both his material and point of reference. “The intentional decisions I make to start an artwork always end up posing further problems to explore; the negative shape or the throwaway component shifts my focus to new outcomes.” Ingram takes a similar approach with drawing and collage; dismantling works on paper through tearing and layering and using this as a base for mark-making and painting.
