Björn Bauer

Bauer is an abstract painter; illustrator; and printmaker. The pervasive personal and cultural impact of digital culture; combined with concerns about the eroding state of the environment; are themes in his work. “A painting has to capture my imagination before I can call it done. Once I've connected the visual design to a particular memory or perception; my creative struggle can settle into a state of completion. Simultaneously; some elements must allow the strangeness of living in the twenty-first century to transmit through the layers of paint. I enjoy the challenge of achieving this with an increasingly outmoded medium.”
