Collection: Anouchka Gerard
(b 1998, United Kingdom. Lives and works in London)
Gerard's practice stems from her interest in architecture and the urban environment; her work often considers the impact of large-scale construction on everyday human and social experience. “My work is intended as a warning;” she says; “a ”˜mise en garde' against the dangers; environmental and psychological; of our species' expansion and social organisation; and its impact on our ecosystem.” Working in acrylic and oil paint; Gerard creates texture in her paintings through layering and removing; a process which echoes the density and ever- changing nature of urban life.
