Upon close examination, simple formal structures in Stahl’s paintings give way to a depth of fragmentary visions, thoughts, memories and imaginings. Similarly, his sculptural works hold small items partially concealed by glue and paint, which reveal themselves on closer inspection.
“These symbols / items in my painting and sculpture do not add up to a story. They are mind wanderings, a collection of thoughts floating across surfaces as poetic interactions,” says Stahl.
