Jennifer Campbell

(b United Kingdom. )

Jennifer uses paint as both image and substance. Her practice occupies the space between pictorial surface and physical object, with paint acting as a transformative medium. Her work explores the fluidity of identity, deconstructing cultural ideas around gender, the sensation of being a physical body in space and time. She makes paintings on a variety of surfaces, often nontraditional, allowing the materiality of the surface to influence what she paints and how this imagery develops. She places importance on thinking through making, letting the painting lead the way forward and always allowing for interruption.
