Kratz’s works across a variety of media, including painting, sculpture and performance art. His work explores the physical presence of paintings as objects, often using soft colors on materials other than traditional canvas. Also references to the body, and skin as a form of containment are is frequently present, as the last border between the self and the world outside in all its fragility. Similarly, his paintings hover somewhere between the two poles of surface and of object, which has led to recent work on reliefs.
