Crudgington uses drawing to take well-known images from mass media and cartoons and then partially obscures them, using layers and recurrent symbols of her own.
“I find symbols particularly attractive as subjects because they characterize the stuff of life: objects and actions and relationships,” she says. “In the broadest sense, the work I make is an attempt to arrange the stuff of my life in a meaningful way."
