Robyn Penn

(b 1973South Africa. Lives and works in Johannesburg)

Robyn Penn is an artist, printmaker and teacher whose work reflects on the ambiguities of anxiety and wonder that characterise the natural world and its transformation through human intervention. Clouds, glaciers and oceans are recurring motifs in her work, imagery she uses to consider the unsettling realities of climate change. The influence of Romanticism and Japanese ukiyo-e painting is evident in her meditative renderings across media including painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture.
