Mmabatho Grace Mokalapa’s art practice is focussed on the subjective, sublime experience of physical space. She is particularly interested in spacial voids that are impersonally infinite but also transcendental. Voids of the kind that affect the viewer’s sense of perception and sense of self, whilst simultaneously floating between reality and fictional space.
Her interests lie in the presence of art in astronomy, philosophy and architecture, where the individual is less of a spectator and more as a participant. Mokalapa’s use of different media includes printmaking, video art, sound and installations.
