(b 1989Denmark. Lives and works in Aarhus)
Jacek’s painting practice is an extension of his academic and journalistic work on the subject of place. He is interested in memories that are bound to specific sites, histories and stories. As such, Jacek’s works are formed from ground, field or hill perspectives, and move between differnent scales and styles of painting. He regularly uses found materials such as paper, plastic, wood and stone from second- hand stores, landfills and city streets as the starting point of his work.
Of his work, he says: “It explores the ways space is continuously transformed around us, how it is rebuilt and wiped away by cultural and natural processes, and how these processes leave traces, wounds and scars that can be both destructive and life-giving.”
