Taking inspiration from mundane objects, experiences and memories, Brown is interested in the space between abstraction and reality. His process involves the build up of layers in multiple works in his studio, adding, subtracting and making and unmaking over extended periods of time. In this way he gradually develops what he refers to as a ‘history of marks’ in each softly refined piece.
