Artist's statement

Vrdoljak makes escapist collages to try and create her own reality. She is attracted to analogue nature of cutting and gluing by hand, and the tactility of old photos and paper. She draws inspiration from nature and landscape, as well as graphic and mechanical forms. Juxtaposition is important in her work, and Vrdoljak likes to combine the organic feel of nature with the static sphere of buildings or random graphic details and forms. “I like to play with scale and texture,” she says. “By blowing up details I show the imperfections and history of the paper: the grain of vintage photos has a certain depth I feel drawn to.”Solo exhibitions
