Thanduxolo Phakathi is a self-taught artist who began making art as an escape from the strictures of her degree in Food Science and Technology. “In between lunch breaks or when I was at home after work, I took a piece of paper, a ruler and pen, and I started drawing shapes,” she says, “I have a respect for lines, the fact that a single line can carry so much meaning. The repetition in the style that I use gives my artworks movement, depth and colour.”

Currently studying MSc in Food Science and Technology.
