Artist's statement
(b 1993ZA. Lives and works in Johannesburg)
“My current body of work is inspired by wood’s natural grain, which I incorporate into my compositions that translate into emphasized forms of patterned paintings. When I make pieces on wood, I go through my wood collection and pick the ones that talk to me, and I then apply combinations of colors as I try and re-imagine the wood grain in my own shades... which in a way makes it now my story. My work tries to explore color, shape and line as means of expressing emotion. These patterns have now developed into an imaginary phase where I explore narratives that I feel but cannot express in words”.Group exhibitions
