Artist's statement

(b 1956GB. Lives and works in Eastbourne)

“My work is primarily concerned with sites of trauma but I am also interested in making work about movies and the media. I attempt to document important geographical terrain and significant historical moments through painstakingly crafted paintings and drawings that capture moments of conflict, disaster or tension. I am hoping that the viewer will look anew at these types of images which are normally reserved for photography and that they may well have become hardened to through overexposure in the news media”.  “My practice has also become an ongoing argument with photography and its supposed unassailable position as the prime medium for representing those places”.
