Andrew Szczech searches for the sublime in his work. He’s a painter who aims to act as a mediator between conscious action and the act of using paint as a medium. Szczech tries to create a clash between seemingly incompatible sources in his work, contrasting traditional and industrial materials.
Conceptually, Szczech says his “focus is on the symbiotic relationship between systems and structures and their subjects,” adding that he revisits imagery from previous works to develop recurring motifs across his practice.
