Morrison has a longstanding interest in the archetypal imagery and mythologies that connect modern and ancient man. Filtering his various influences through a contemporary lens, Morrison allows layered cultural references to seep into his work, including early video game aesthetics, retro-futurism, sub-cultural graphic design, cartoons and comics.
He pairs this preoccupation with a stylistic enquiry into Modern abstract painting, employing formalist mores defined by 20th century avant-garde movements. Morrison seeks to create a unique visual code in his work by bringing these ideological and painterly languages to bear on his expansive index of simulations of his own morphed archetypes.
