Adam Boyd

(b 1993United Kingdom. Lives and works in London)

The tension between knowledge and faith is central in Adam Boyd’s work. Informed by an eclectic research, his work gives everyday objects, observed in domestic spaces, devotional status. One such example is the fire-hearth, which Boyd says has, "tended to act as a locus for close-knit familial behaviour.” Using the geometric shape of the fireplace to experiment with watercolour, allows for the more abstract qualities to arise from familiar objects.
